India has to buy time to ensure that high coverage of vaccination against COVID-19 is achieved, the government said.
Union minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday cited recent remarks of the health ministry to assert that the inoculation exercise in India will be completed by December this year.
The SC also asked the UP government how the killers got the knowledge that they were being taken to hospital.

Vaccines Covishield and Covaxin work against SARS-CoV-2 variants Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta, while effectiveness tests against the Delta Plus variant is ongoing, the government said.
"Vaccination is our big weapon in the fight against COVID-19," he said. He added that India is the fastest country globally to reach the landmark of 17 crore doses in 114 days and thanked all the states and UTs for their contribution in achieving this feat.
